Aah, Dorton Arena. My last time there it was full of elephants. No, not Jesse Helms and Bill Cobey and the NC GOP, but big stinking Barnum and Bailey elephants! Good luck with your JJ tonight. I will watch on CSPAN. In Hartford, our JJB (Bailey, former state and national chair and father of Kennelly) cost $175 and featured Joe Biden! Ugh! When it comes to Tuesday, I hope ya'll say Yes We Can!

This is likely the largest Jefferson-Jackson Dinner in North Carolina.

State Chairman Jerry Meek told the crowd a few minutes ago that the party believes it is the largest of the annual fundraising dinners since it began in 1930.

A total of 5,000 people are in the audience, including 1,000 in the table seats on the floor of the Dorton Arena. (The rest are in the bleachers.)

At $125 a ticket for the nice seats and $25 for the bleachers, that works out to about $225,000 in gross profits for the Democratic Party.

No word yet on the cost of the event.
