While I may have questions about spending media dollars now during the primary, I have no problem with highlighting the poor judgment of Perdue and Moore, and I strongly support the NCGOP's efforts to expose this poor judgment to North Carolina voters.

If Perdue and Moore honestly believe that Barack Obama is really the most qualified person to be our president and commander in chief, that level of judgment needs to be nowhere near our governor's mansion.

The governor needs to be surrounded by highly qualified people to provide advice, counsel and guidance. The poor judgment Perdue and Moore have demonstrated in endorsing Obama raises serious questions about their management experience. A qualification necessary to be the chief executive of our state.

The inability to recognize subtle intellectual arguments is a growing weakness among many conservatives.

As evidenced by the majority of posts on this thread, many of you would be content to wall off the GOP into a corner from which we would never escape.

Bob Orr's point is that this is the Democratic primary, why should we spend GOP money now undermining the Democrats?

"We do not need to spend limited media dollars on some tenuous link between the two Democratic candidates for governor and Reverend Wright."

Even Newt Gingrich has pointed out that conservatives lose when they continually shout "NO" from the top of their lungs with no real substance backing up their arguments.

I am all for pointing out the weaknesses of Democratic candidates for office, but the GOP is better served if we have substantive policy goals backing up our position on the moral high ground.

Until today, I planned to vote for Orr. I am not going to vote for an appeaser. We don't need any Neville Chamberlain-esque Republicans in the Governor's Mansion on Blount Street.

Between this PC move and his decision to recuse himself on redistricting issues when he was on the Supreme Court, he obviously can't be counted on to have the backbone needed to fight for Republican Values.

This ad is not an example of race-baiting. An example of race-baiting would be the flier that Bev Purdue sent of herself with Obama to black households ONLY. Why should white people not know she is endorsing Obama?

I never thought I'd see the day when NCGOP honcho Linda Daves showed more huevos than Bob Orr. Kudos to Daves for calling out Perdue and Moore on their endorsement of Barack Obama.

Only one of the four major Republican candidates for governor, Bob Orr, says he has seen a new ad from the N.C. Republican Party that attacks Democratic gubernatorial candidates Richard Moore and Beverly Perdue as being too extreme for North Carolina.

Orr, a former N.C. Supreme Court justice, said the party should not run the ad, reports David Ingram.

"There are numerous grounds based upon the issues and their records to attack Moore and Perdue," he said in a statement. "We do not need to spend limited media dollars on some tenuous link between the two Democratic candidates for governor and Reverend Wright."

The ad uses video of Barack Obama's former minister, Jeremiah Wright, to criticize Moore and Perdue for endorsing Obama. Expected Republican presidential nominee John McCain also has asked the state GOP not to run the ad.

The other three major Republican candidates had no comment.

A spokesman for Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory said he "has been busy on the campaign trail all day today, and hasn't yet had a chance to view the ad. Honestly, he probably won't get a chance to view it until late tonight, or tomorrow."

A spokesman for state Sen. Fred Smith of Johnston County said, "Fred has no comment nor has he seen the ad."

Bill Graham, a Salisbury lawyer, said, "I haven't seen it. I don't know boo turkey about it."
