Singing for Perdue

A group of female supporters were joined by Beverly Perdue this morning as they took advantage of the chance to vote early at the Wake County Board of Elections in downtown Raleigh.

"Women for Perdue" chartered a bus to take Wake County voters to the polls, reports Matt Tomsic.

Perdue, a Demcratic candidate for governor, gave a brief speech before the women voted, congratulating them for having 10,000 members statewide.

"This is going on all over North Carolina," Perdue said.

After the speech, some of the women began singing, "Stop in the name of Bev, before you vote for her."

Lola Morrison and Charlene Barbour, both of Oriental, drove about 2 hours to Raleigh for the event.

"We've been supporting Perdue before she became lieutenant governor," Morrison said.
