Gary Pearce predicts a blowout for Barack Obama in North Carolina.

In a post on Talking About Politics, the longtime Democratic consultant writes that huge attendance at a Michelle Obama event in Raleigh, unusual endorsements by the gubernatorial candidates and a surge in black and Democratic voters spell a huge victory.

Some Democrats think black turnout could be 40 percent of the primary electorate. Do the math: If Obama gets 90 percent of the black vote, he already has 36 percent of the total. If he gets just one third of the white vote, he will have 56 percent in the primary. And it could go higher.

He says that Obama could in in North Carolina by 20 points. That would be "the final blow" for Hillary Clinton and help Beverly Perdue and Hampton Dellinger in statewide races for governor and lieutenant governor, respectively.

But it would leave behind Gov. Mike Easley and John Edwards, who seem to favor Clinton.
