Beverly Perdue barely leads Richard Moore in a new poll.

The survey by Public Policy Polling showed Perdue with 38 percent of likely voters in the Democratic gubernatorial race, followed closely by Moore at 37 percent.

"One thing that could be hurting Perdue is her endorsement of Barack Obama," said president Dean Debnam in a statement. "Four weeks ago Perdue led 53-20 with women. Now it's just 39-35, and I know a lot of women who were not happy she did that with Hillary Clinton still in the race."

Pollster Tom Jensen said that Moore also led among voters who said they had seen TV ads for both campaigns.

The Democatic polling firm surveyed 1,100 likely Democratic primary voters with automated calls on March 29th and 30th. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

The firm recently changed its methodology to reflect higher expected turnout. This survey was also conducted on a weekend.
