NC's rules are the same as every other state's. Superdelegates can vote for whomever they want. They don't need to pledge like a regular elected delegate. Although regular delegates aren't bound in any formal way to vote for the candidate for whom they are pledged either.

If you're really interested, you can find out all the nitty gritty at the NCDP's website. They lay out in excruciating detail the procedure for delegate allocation and selection.

At the risk of being called out for being "off topic" (but it sort of is on topic since Rep. Miller would be a superdelegate), anyone know what are NC rules on how delegates vote? Are they required to vote for their candidate or must they only vote that way on the first ballot or what?
