I contacted five different offices for three congressmen (Price, Miller and Etheridge) this morning. No one has heard of this. The aide in Congressman Etheridge's office was adamant that he had not endorsed anyone and has stated repeatedly that he will not endorse. This story doesn't feel solid and doesn't make sense.

Your entry doesn't reflect the entire story. The article you reference states, "One North Carolinian confirmed that at least several of the state's House members would go public in favor of Sen. Obama before long." The article provides no basis for its earlier statement that all seven Democrats are endorsing Obama.

It seems that the Wall Street Journal and Under the Dome are drawing an awfully big conclusion to make the leap from "several" to "seven." This is especially true when no one knows who this "one North Carolinian" is.

The Wall Street Journal reports that seven North Carolina Congressmen will endorse Barack Obama before the May 6 primary.

From a story in tomorrow's paper:

Meanwhile, North Carolina's seven Democratic House members are poised to endorse Sen. Obama as a group -- just one has so far -- before that state's May 6 primary, several Democrats say.

That would be U.S. Reps. Brad Miller, David Price, Heath Shuler, Mel Watt, Bob Etheridge and Mike McIntyre.

Rep. G.K. Butterfield has already endorsed Obama.

The endorsements would be a victory in a number of ways for his campaign. As superdelegates, they would put him closer to securing the nomination. As popular state Democrats, they would lend him momentum in the state.

And as Congressmen, they could help him win the 77 delegates apportioned by district.
