What does Carville know about North Carolina or Kay Hagan?

I suspect Carville hasn't the faintest idea about the needs of our state or whether or not Kay Hagan would fairly represent the interests of either North Carolina or the nation. Unless Hagan's web site has changed recently, when I last checked there was no discussion of her position on any issues. The continuous loop video of Ms. Hagan saying her first thoughts each morning as she awakened were "what can I do today for the citizens of North Carolina" was both comical and disingenuous. Seems to me Mr. Carville is tooting Hagan simply because she's part of the Democratic "establishment"...you know, the Dems who talk like a progressive or populist but often vote differently.

We don't need another "blue dog" Democrat or professional politician representing the people of North Carolina. We need someone like Jim Neal who isn't beholden to anyone and who truly wants to be responsive to the people he represents. It's time for real change in Washington. I suspect Hagan would be a new face, but more of the same. Neal, on the other hand, is not a professional politician and understands how the rest of us live and the changes we seek. Carville doesn't get it.

Jim Neal called out James Carville at the Young Democrats convention.

At a private reception before his luncheon speech, the Democratic political consultant and commentator met with Young Democrats and others who paid $50 a ticket.

The reception was closed to the press, but Neal and others described what happened inside to Dome afterward.

At one point, Carville said that North Carolina has a great Senate candidate in Kay Hagan, noting that he had just spoken with her daughter, Carrie.

Neal, who is running against Hagan for the Democratic nomination, spoke out from the back of the room.

"I said, 'We have primaries here in North Carolina. We don't have coronations,'" Neal said later.

He said Carville did not respond.

"It was the first time I've ever seen him quiet," Neal said.
