An earlier planned visit was canceled when reporters learned of it, but Obama gave reporters the slip in Chicago.</p><p>&quot;Senator Obama visited this morning with John and Elizabeth Edwards at their home in Chapel Hill to discuss the state of the campaign and the pressing issues facing America families,&quot; Obama spokesman Dan Burton said in a statement.</p><p>Edwards met Hillary Clinton earlier this month. </p><p>Both campaigns think an Edwards endorsement could help swing the race because of his high profile, the 26 delegates he won in Iowa and New Hampshire and his donors. He could also influence the May 6 primary in North Carolina.</p><p>Edwards has not said whether he will endorse, but former aides said he has concerns about Obama&#39;s health care plan and whether he is ready for the presidency.
