A Libertarian century?

So does that mean the 1% of the electorate that is actually libertarian will be ruling over the rest of us? That doesn't sound particularly libertarian.

Or do you plan on growing your constituency by 5000%? That doesn't sound particularly sane.

Go Mike! We've almost hit the signature requirement--I'm getting out my wallet right now to send in another contribution to help finish it up! It's time to dismantle the oppressive machinery of the state built up by the two state-sponsored parties. It's time for a Libertarian century.

Munger hopes to get on ballot

Michael Munger has a low opinion of government.

But that isn't stopping the 49-year-old Duke University politics professor from seeking to be on the ballot as a Libertarian candidate for governor.

In an interview, he called Democratic candidate Beverly Perdue a "Stepford wife" and the fundraising practices of her rival Richard Moore "repulsive." He also said that the Republican Party has a history of trotting out "circus clowns" as candidates.

"I'm claiming the [Republican] candidate in November will have big orange hair and a rubber nose," he says.

Munger says he would create a school voucher program, end the death penalty, curb cities' power to annex land, slash state departments and reduce spending.

But first, he'll have to collect more than 100,000 signatures to get on the ballot. (N&O)
