I can't tell what he means by "envirojacker," even with the context. It seems to fit polluters, ie those who dump large amounts of toxins into the (shared) environment, but I'm sure he's actually trying to smear the good people who oppose polluters.

There is no other concerned citizen MORE WORTHY of higher office than Dr. Carl Mumpower for the NC 11th district!

Are there ANY 'intelligent, normal people' IN Swain County?

This person is a pure joke. This 'made-up' word has no meaning in reality! He has no understanding of the issues nor respect for the environment. The useless, harmful, damaging, stupid "Road to Nowhere" issue is over! It will not be built! The intelligent, normal people of Swain County have accepted this FACT and have moved on. The promised payment in regards to the settlement of the 'road issue' is in this Federal Budget and ends this matter. Ends it here and now! Period! Accept Reality!

You would be correct! How ASTUTE of the 'journalist'...

Dr. Mumpower is a VERY WISE man who is VERY capable of coining appropriate words...He will make a VERY DISTINGUISHED Congressman for the NC 11th district!

Carl Mumpower says he is a true conservative.

In an interview with the Smoky Mountain News, the Asheville City Councilman says he would try to shrink the federal debt, target companies that employ illegal immigrants, reduce government's role in health care and help constituents navigate the federal government.

"Basically, Washington operates as a rigged lottery, almost without exception. It caters to special interests that betray the common interest," he said.

Earlier this month, Mumpower announced he would run for the Republican nomination to take on U.S. Rep. Heath Shuler.

In an aside, he also coined a word. He said he supports building the "road to nowhere" through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which Shuler opposed.

"I do not believe that the passage of time, pressure from envirojackers, or indulgence of Tennessee special interests is a foundation for violating our word," he told the paper.

Dome could not find any previously published news articles, Web sites or blogs with the word "envirojacker," but we assume its a portmanteau of "environment" and "hijacker."
