they paid and he delivered. they should probably help pay his legal bills instead. it sounds like he did a great job for them.

Good point bk, but even more interesting are all the public and quasi-public clients Beason had and has.

What do government officials who were paying Beason think about these developments?

In the meantime, good for Progress. They should ask for all their money back.

At least one of Don Beason's lobbying clients is reviewing their relationship with Beason in light of the evidence in state court today that he loaned $500,000 to former House Speaker Jim Black in 2000.

"We are disappointed and surprised to learn about this situation," Progress Energy said this afternoon in a statement, reports Titan Barksdale. "Our contractors and consultants are expected to meet the same stringent legal and ethical standards as our employees.

"We are evaluating this situation and will take appropriate action when all the facts are known."
