Hmmmm, just usual things from Robert Brawley. We all knew he was in deep with the democrats years ago and was always out to do nothing more than fatten his pockets.

Former House Speaker Jim Black testified in state court this morning about another possible political deal.

The events in question took place in 1997, according to Black, and involved then-Rep. Robert Brawley, an Iredlell County Republican, Rep. Harold Brubaker, a Randolph County Republican, and Black, a Mecklenburg County Democrat.

According to Black's testimony, Brawley had agreed to cross party lines and support Black for speaker. But Black said Brawley told him about being approached by Brubaker to come back into the GOP fold.

Black said Brawley told him that Brubaker asked what it would take to get his vote back, and that Brawley told Brubaker he wanted $300,000 in a trust fund for his children.

Black said Brubaker told Brawley he would get back to him about it. And that's where Black's testimony on the issue ended.

Neither Brubaker nor Brawley could be immediately reached for comment this morning.
