I think Brad Miller is VERY in touch with his district. He answers EVERY question or challenge I send him, and he is always open to new thought. He is not there for glory or fame, just to get things done.

I agree with Whaler - plus Randall must not be very political saavy!

The 2010 elections will give way quickly to redistricting - Mr. Randall might be better suited to wait until post 2010 to see how the new lines are drawn and then make a decision.

Just my two cents - but no name recognition, just moved to the area, a McCain follower = no challenge to Miller

Lived here since October, and already has run for State GOP Chair and now Congress. An ambitious fella. Perhaps he should take some time first and learn about the people he hopes to represent. That might increase his credibility some.

I didn't criticize the guy. I'm a big fan of veterans ... I'm one myself. Plus my dad retired from the Navy as a Master Chief Hospital Corpsman. I couldn't be more proud of him.

I just think it's ironic that so many conservatives who have been paid all their lives to work for the government spend so much of their energy finding fault with their employer.

If I were going to be critical, I'd have said hypocritical instead of ironic.

Thanks for the nap suggestion. Unfortunately I work for a living. In the private sector.

You're reaching Protzman -- I don't think any credible Republican will or has criticized veterans' benefits. Go back to your afternoon nap; I'm sure you'll need to save your strength for the afternoon crusade on your "blog".

Living off government largesse funded by taxpayers? Now looking for another government job so he can complain about government and get paid to do so?

Somehow I don't imagine Congressman Miller will be all that worried.

Randall to challenge Miller

Bill Randall, an unsuccessful candidate for state GOP chairman, plans to challenge Democratic U.S. Rep. Brad Miller of Raleigh next year.

Randall, 42, a retired Navy meteorologist from Wake Forest, plans to announce his candidacy July 1, reports Rob Christensen.

“I believe the current representative is out of touch,” Randall said. “With his voting record he does not represent the average constituent in the district along with the so-called stimulus plan.”

Randall moved to North Carolina last fall and became involved as a volunteer in the campaign of Republican presidential candidate John McCain.

He became known in GOP circles across the state when he campaigned for party chairman.

Miller, a four-term Democrat, has never had a close race in the Democratic-leaning 13th District, which starts in Raleigh and arcs northward along the Virginia border before ending in Greensboro.
