He runs, Burr makes this about choice (or lack of), Cal wins.

Cal needs to leave the Lexington style barbeque at home once he hits the Coastal Plain so he doesn't offend anyone. He will need to develop a taste for vinegar based chopped barbeque as well. Seriously, can he raise the kind of money he needs to run a competitive race? Whoever runs against Burr should have a good chance. I can't name a thing Burr has accomplished over the last four years. Can anyone? The tobacco thing doesn't have legs. After all the GA just banned smoking in bars and dinners with hardly a sound of protest. There aren't many voters in NC anymore that are directly effected by the tobacco industry.

My front porch kitty is even considering it. The back porch kitty is a Burr supporter.

Cal needs to make it official, get on the train and start selling that Lexington BBQ statewide.

Elaine Marshall's legislative liaison is considering a run for Senate.

Robert Wilson, who currently works for the Democratic secretary of state, told the Insider on Tuesday that he might run for the nomination to face U.S. Sen. Richard Burr.

Wilson is a 28-year veteran of state government who has also worked for the Department of Correction and the state community college system.

"If I get in it, I will be in it to win it," he said.

As of November, he made $85,005 as legislative affairs program manager for Marshall.

Marshall, the longest-serving member of the Council of State, ran unsuccessfully for the Democratic nomination in 2002.
