No one has said there is anything wrong with being gay. However the GOP has traditionally not supported the homosexual lifestyle and certainly the mainstream convention goer would not vote for an openly gay Chairman. I also can not agree with the statement "that's just the way some people are." People are NOT born gay. Homosexuality is a choice not a gene. If someone chooses to be gay that is their personal choice but I hate the argument that they were "born that way". RTB needs to quit worrying about having to babysit comments over a nice long weekend.

Since the N and O turned off posting on the Tom "I'm not gay - really!" Fetzer story, one cannot help but point out - Tom, you doth protest WAY too much! There's nothing wrong with being gay, that's just the way some people are.

Wonder if this persistent persecution is rooted in one of the following:
1. that Cary is sponsoring some very important environmental legislation that seriously screws w/ the power brokers that be and actually save taxpayers a helluva lot of $$, our health, our lives?

2. he's a REAL person - a business owner, a regular guy w/ his finger on the pulse of his constituents?

3. that people like Cary Allred, Jesse Ventura, and Kinky Friedman in politics makes a roomful of career, corrupt politicos shudder?

Oh yeah....this business of 'ethical behavior'...I spent the better part of today w/ one of the grand dames of politics between here and the Beltway. There are some very interesting stories about a whole lot of our legislators and if walls on Jones Street could talk!

[For your defense if you need it, I've got some old reruns of "Barney" (what a grip that old dinosaur had), Mr. Rogers and, of course, Captain Kangaroo. They make your squeezes look tame.]

I was born and raised in Alamance county.I now live and work in NYC.What a crock this bs story is-what a waste of newspaper ink-I will donate money and ask all my friends and relatives still in Alamance couty to vote for Rep. Allred

State Rep. Cary Allred will stick with his party after all.

Allred, a Burlington Republican, told reporters he was thinking about leaving the party after several of his Republican House colleages reported they were disturbed by his conduct on the House floor.

As late as Thursday, Allred was saying he was planning to switch his registration to "unaffiliated." Late Thursday, state Republican chairwoman Linda Daves called for his resignation.

By Friday he had a change of heart.

"I am not going to change my party," Allred said. "Friends of mine called and asked me not to."

He said he is not taking Daves' rebuke seriously.

"She never did anything to help me get elected. She doesn't know me. I don't know her," Allred said. "She does not know my constituents and my constituents don't know her."
