This is the weirdest shunning I've ever witnessed. We know Dome is "dead" to James, because he has announced it at least twice and denounced Dome even more often, yet he keeps coming back and playing with this "dead" thing. It just smacks of necrophilia.

I agree that the idiotic, racist comment should be left up so that whomever posted it can start cringing when he or she sobers up, and, again, so that others are reminded that racism really isn't a thing of the past but is alive and thriving.

That reminds me, RTB. You've had some good stuff to post lately, but if you run into another dry spell, how about providing some free education to twits who still don't understand what the First Amendment is and ISN'T?

It's not a tough lesson, and you know you've got some readers who could use a little education.

It is your value judgments about "Stupid" "offensive" and "racist" comments which is what is at issue here. Your views or the N&Os are not "Truth".
Remember when the Earth was Flat? Everyone knew this was absolute.

If McCain had won the same WH comment could be made since he has lived in Public housing most of his life- growing up as a Navy brat, In the Navy, With the Senate paid salary etc. and it would still be humorous.

Pointing out that obama supporters may have small brains does not in anyway offend small people. The word midget is not even a correct description for people of lessor stature. By the way for you obamatangs, proposed commerce secretary pulls out due to questionable business dealings. Guess what Penny's last job was? National Campaign Finance Chair Woman for the chosen one. Freedom of speech does not mean that one must never criticize someone else. In fact, the very philosophical underpinnings of free speech are that it is best to counter stupid, offensive or racist ideas with more speech, allowing the marketplace of ideas to sort out what is true and right.

And I didn't delete the comment, so I'm not sure what the argument is here.

This is getting tiresome quickly. Your freedom of speech is not impinged by me pointing out that your comments are offensive, nor by me even deleting them from this forum, which I manage. You are still free to spread your thoughts elsewhere.

That said, folks who suffer from dwarfism generally prefer to be called dwarves or little people.

President-elect Barack Obama carried North Carolina in a squeaker.

With all the provisional votes counted, Obama broadened his narrow lead over Republican John McCain in North Carolina, Rob Christensen reports.

President-elect Obama carried the state with 49.7 percent to McCain’s 49.38, a difference of 14,192 votes, according to the final count by the State Board of Elections staff. Before the provisional votes were counted Obama had a lead of 13,746 votes.

The vote won’t become final until the State Board of Elections meets Tuesday in Raleigh.

Obama won 2,142,649 votes, compared to 2,128,457 votes after the provisional ballots were counted. Bob Barr, the Libertarian candidate won 25,722 and there were 13,942 votes cast for write-in candidates.

This was the first time that North Carolina had gone Democratic since 1976, when Democrat Jimmy Carter defeated Republican Gerald Ford.
