Dole is really desperate, isn't she? I'm ashamed of this ad. Shame on Elizabeth Dole. Any class I thought she had was an illusion. When you resort to name-calling because you've lost on the issues, you've lost my vote. Dole, just concede like the lady we thought you were. Winning at any cost is a victory for none.

Furious about a new political ad that suggests she's "godless," state Sen. Kay Hagan is seeking a cease-and-desist order from U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole's campaign.

Hagan, a Democrat from Guilford County, and Dole, the Republican incumbent, have both been engaged in a highly negative ad war over the U.S. Senate seat.

Hagan planned a press conference this morning with her family and her Christian pastor outside her church in Greensboro to denounce the ad, reports Lisa Zagaroli.

Dole's campaign has been calling attention to a Sept. 15 fundraiser that Hagan attended in Boston with author Wendy Kaminer and her husband, Woody Kaplan, who was on the advisory board of the Godless Americans political action committee and active in a group that promoted "secular" ideas.

The ad featuring Hagan airs a comment from one the organization’s leaders saying "There was no Jesus."

The announcer says "A leader of the Godless Americans PAC recently held a secret fundraiser in Kay Hagan’s honor."

"Godless Americans and Kay Hagan. She hid from cameras. Took godless money. What did Hagan promise in return?"

Recent polls have shown Hagan with a narrow lead over Dole.
