Twenty minutes

Attorney General Roy Cooper had more harsh words for the Durham district attorney on Sunday.

In an interview with Lesley Stahl of "60 Minutes," Cooper said that Mike Nifong handled the Duke lacrosse case poorly from start to finish:

STAHL: In your news conference you sounded offended and outraged by this whole thing.

COOPER: When we have a prosecutor who takes advantage of his enormous power and overreaches like this, then yes, it's offensive, and yes, it's my duty as the chief law enforcement officer of this state to call him out on it.

He also said that the accuser gave different accounts of what happened, including one version where she was assaulted while suspended in mid-air and another where she was taken outside and beaten.

Cooper said that none of the stories fit with the evidence.

After last week's nationally broadcast press conference, the interview is his second moment in the spotlight, helping cement his reputation as the anti-Nifong in this case.
