Tonight: Weather permitting, Lane Construction Corp. will reduce WESTBOUND I-40 to one lane from NC 54 (Exit 273, Chapel Hill) to US 15-501 (Exit 270, Chapel Hill and west Durham) from 8pm to 6am. EASTBOUND travel is not affected. Backups of up to two miles are possible.
Lane and DOT are repairing pavement on I-40 in Durham County. This work was scheduled to last until next May, but it's almost finished. Lane has completed the pavement work and is expected to finish installing markers this week, with no more lane closings after Thursday night.
That opens things up just in time for the State Fair (which starts Friday, Oct. 12, in Raleigh.)
