Tues 10/2: I-40 eastbound traffic slow tonight, NC 54 to Fayetteville Road

Tonight: Weather permitting, EASTBOUND I-40 will be reduced to one lane from NC 54 (Exit 273, Chapel Hill) to Fayetteville Road (Exit 276, Streets at Southpoint), for pavement marking and lane striping. The lane closures from 8pm to 6am may cause backups of up to two miles.

Later this week, Lane Construction Corp. will continue its pavement repair project on I-40, closing two lanes each night for striping and pavement marking.

* Wednesday Oct 3: EASTBOUND from Fayetteville Road (Exit 276) to NC 55 (Exit 278), 8pm-6am.

* Thursday Oct 4: EASTBOUND from NC 55 (Exit 278) to NC 147 Durham Freeway (Exit 279), 8pm-6am.

* Friday Oct 5: WESTBOUND from NC 147 Durham Freeway (Exit 279) to NC 55 (Exit 278), 8pm-8am.

* Saturday Oct 6: WESTBOUND from NC 55 (Exit 278) to Fayetteville Road (Exit 276), 8pm-8am.

* Sunday Oct 7: WESTBOUND from Fayetteville Road (Exit 276) to NC 54 (Exit 273), 8pm-6am.

DOT and Lane are nearing completion of a $21.7 million pavement repair project on I-40.
