Thomas Wright must go?

Campaign finance gadfly Joe Sinsheimer has called for hearings on whether state Rep. Thomas Wright should be kicked out of office.

Sinsheimer, a former Democratic operative who ran a Web site against former House Speaker Jim Black, said in a press release that yesterday's campaign finance hearings were not enough:

"Rep. Wright has become an embarrassment to the North Carolina General Assembly and the House Democratic Caucus and his continued service in the House would be further insult to the people of North Carolina," Sinsheimer added.

He also cited Article II, Section 20 of the North Carolina Constitution, which he said would allow the House to expel Wright, a New Hanover Democrat.
