Stam's argument

Rep. Paul Stam argued that a ban on smoking in public places would lead to more smoking in private.

The Apex Republican, who is House minority leader, said that people who can't smoke at work will just do it at home.

Here was his argument:

"This is pushing smoke out of places where only adults are, but into places where children are. A person who's addicted to tobacco and can't smoke all day will get in that car and have to light up three or four or go home and do what they didn't do during the day. That seems common sense to me."

Needless to say, Stam voted against the bill.

Ditto.

Re: Stam's argument

This guy is a NC Legislator? It should scare us that people in positions of power possess this type of thought process. Those RJR fumes must have destroyed some brain cells. I would be ashamed to be in the county he represents.
