It's crossover time at the General Assembly.
That's the week leading up to the deadline for a bill to pass either the House or the Senate — a sort of legislative lightning round that sees a flurry of activity.
Not all of it will lead to honest-to-goodness laws, though. A lot of bills are passed with the knowledge — and maybe sometimes even the hope — that the other chamber will kill them off.
Still, it's a busy time for lawmakers, who have to consider thousands of bills in just four days. In honor of our Nascar-loving legislators, let's call it "Speed Week."
More on crossover from Dan Kane here.

Re: Speed Week
Are the 20+ Bills that would reform forced annexation law not considered "important"?
The NC League of Municipalities certainly considers them important to them.
The large and growing numbers of NC property owners who are negatively affected by forced annexation think that they are important.
But... I guess that is irrelevant if the Bills have already been assigned to the "circular file".
