The hearings on Reps. Mary McAllister and Thomas Wright are based on complaints filed by campaign finance gadfly Joe Sinsheimer.
The complaints allege campaign finance wrongdoings, and both lawmakers are listed as their own treasurer, Andy Curliss reports.
Sinsheimer, a former Democratic operative, was behind a Web site that helped bring down former House speaker Jim Black.
In the letters, he alleges that Wright purposefully delayed reporting contributions from a controversial landfill operator in Wilmington until after an election. He also raised questions about donations from the N.C. Association of Nurse Anesthetists PAC.
McAllister, serving her ninth term, is under scrutiny because it appears from her campaign reports that she paid herself with campaign funds when she shouldn't have. She filed a letter with the state that says she has errors in her reports.
She told the Charlotte Observer that she was unaware a hearing had been scheduled.
"I don't know any reason for them to hold a hearing," she said.
