Reiff: Perdue flip flops

State Treasurer Richard Moore has signaled that he plans to portray Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue, his chief Democratic rival for governor, as someone who flip flops on the issues.

Moore's campaign recently raised questions about whether Perdue, the lieutenant governor, was a strong supporter of abortion rights, because she once backed sharp cuts in government-funded abortions for poor women when she was a legislative budget chairwoman, Rob Christensen reports.

(Perdue's campaign responded that she is strongly pro-choice.)

"This is only one instance of a larger pattern," wrote Jay Reiff, Moore's campaign manager, in an email to Dome. "Perdue has previously demonstrated an easy willingness to shift with the political winds and a disappointing level of insincerity."

"All of this goes beyond your garden variety flip flop and we believe it is a central issue in the campaign for governor," Reiff wrote.
