Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue called for Rep. Thomas Wright to resign.
In a very brief written statement from her office, she said that House Speaker Joe Hackney was on the mark:
"I respect and agree with Speaker Hackney’s assessment that Representative Wright should resign."

Previously, Gov. Mike Easley, House Speaker Joe Hackney, state Sen. Julia Boseman, Democratic consultant Gary Pearce, Democratic blogger James Protzman a.k.a. Anglico, the N.C. Public Interest Research Group, the Wilmington Journal, the editorial boards of the Wilmington Star-News and the Charlotte Observer, campaign finance reformer Joe Sinsheimer and the N.C. Republican Party called for Wright's resignation.
