One for Eight Ball

Earlier this month, we set N.C. Spin against a Magic Eight Ball in a test of prognosticative powers.

As you may recall, the gossipy e-mail newsletter had written that the State Board of Elections would hold hearings on Rep. Thomas Wright "by the end of the month." The Eight Ball said it would not.

Who won? Let's go to the Wilmington Star-News:

The chairman of the N.C. State Board of Elections said Friday that he will schedule hearings for next month on the criminal investigation into the re-election campaign of state Rep. Thomas Wright.

Larry Leake said he expected the board to hold more than a day of public hearings sometime in mid-May.

That, plus the fact that today is April 30 and no hearings are taking place before tomorrow, leads us to chalk up a victory for the Eight Ball.

However, we will grant that N.C. Spin was right in the long run, and grant them half a point.

The standings: Eight Ball 1, N.C. Spin 1/2.

"NC Spin" .... Yikes, is that still on the air? John Hood and Chris Fitzsimons hitting each other with nerf bats = compelling TV for sure!

Jim Goodmon's foster child, Tom Campbell, needs to invite Rufus to come on and sing "God Didn't Make Honky Tonk Angels" during sweeps week.

Re: One for Eight Ball

Sounds great!

I'm not sure I could expense another Magic Eight Ball, though.

Re: One for Eight Ball

Wikipedia, says that in March, Burger King introduced "SpongeBob AnswerPants" a cube-shaped toy to resemble SpongeBob, this toy is essentially a Magic 8 Ball with 6 possible answers. Said answers are "Oh Barnacles! No", "Water Is Murky", "Aye, Aye", "Sounds Fishy", "Crabsolutely", and "You'll Sea Soon".

Maybe you should use this one!
