Moore's survey of state workers

Richard Moore says his own poll shows a closer race among state workers.

The state treasurer's campaign hired Benenson Strategy Group to survey likely Democratic voters statewide.

They were asked: "If the Democratic primary election for Governor of North Carolina was
held today, and the candidates were Beverly Perdue or Richard Moore
[rotate names] for whom would you vote?"

Campaign manager Jay Reiff said the respondents who said they worked for state government or were state retirees were closely split: 32 percent backed Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue, while 30 percent supported Moore.

Thirty-eight percent said they did not know.

The margin of error for the entire survey was plus or minus 3.1 percentage points. The Moore campaign did not provide other data from the poll.

Earlier: Perdue leads Moore 47-32, according to a poll of members of the State Employees Association of North Carolina.
