Graham kicks off

Bill Graham kicked off his campaign for the Republican nomination for governor.

The Salisbury attorney hopes to ride voter discontent with taxes, illegal immigration and Democratic corruption to the Executive Mansion next year, Rob Christensen reports.

At a kickoff in Dunn, Graham introduced an anti-Raleigh theme into his message, saying years of Democratic rule in state government had not served North Carolina well in taxes, immigration, education, roads and basic honesty in government.

"People are taking payoffs and bribes," he said. "Corruption is rampant. It’s time to make a change. You don’t hire people to go to Raleigh to take public funds in bathrooms in IHOPs and expect the public is going to do absolutely nothing about it."
