Former Rep. Taylor's non-response

Some Republicans are upset about Charles Taylor's response.

The Henderson County Republican Men's Club voted last month to ask the former Congressman to decide by Aug. 22 whether he will challenge Democratic Rep. Heath Shuler.

Taylor's response was short, according to the Asheville Citizen-Times.

"Thank you for your recent letter and your kind remarks concerning my office constituent services," he wrote the club's president. "We were there to serve the 11th District."

Several members of the club said the non-answer made them angry, according to the Hendersonville News.

"I think Taylor has insulted this party, this club," said George Jones, a longtime Republican activist. "He is dragging us down."

Larry Ford, a longtime Taylor aide, said that the group should respect Taylor's Congressional service and not "reprimand him in public."

What do you expect? After all, he is a Republican.
