A key retired state retirement manager has endorsed Michael Weisel.
Dennis Ducker, the former director of the state retirement system, has sent out a letter to state retirees urging them to support Weisel's bid for the Democratic nomination for state treasurer, Rob Christensen reports.
"I have known Michael for many years, and find him to be person of honesty and integrity," Ducker wrote. "He is not a typical politician, so he will never support ill-conceived schemes by some politicians that would weaken our State's investments and the soundness of our retirement systems."
State retirees are an important political constituency group in the state treasurer's race.
Weisel, a Raleigh attorney and former investment manager, is one of several Democrats seeking the nomination for state treasurer, who oversees the state retirement system. The current treasurer, Richard Moore, is running for governor.

Re: Ducker endorses Weisel
It is good to see that the very best nominee for the office of State Treasurer, Michael Weisel, is starting to receive the backing and media coverage he deserves!
