U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole's campaign polling has raised some questions.
In a column by Rob Christensen Sunday, Dole's strategists said their own poll, taken last week, showed here with a job approval rating of 64 percent and a disapproval rating of 23 percent. A majority of moderates and Democrats like her, the polling showed.
An earlier poll by Dole's campaign in June showed a 59 percent favorable rating.
Public Policy Polling, a Democratic firm in Raleigh, puts her approval numbers in the 40 to 50 percent range. A poll by Survey USA in November of 2006 gave her a 52 percent approval rating. An anti-war group said its August poll showed her vulnerable.
As WUNC's Laura Leslie writes on her blog, "polls usually vary, but not that widely."
The pro-Democratic blog Senate 2008 Guru also chimed in, saying the Republican senator is "delusional."
