Bob Orr blames poor government access for recent scandals.
The candidate for the Republican gubernatorial nomination writes in a post on his campaign blog, More from Orr, that the state's "lack of openness" has led to ethics problems:
Whether it's the governor's income, or legislative ethics, or who put together the backroom tax deals for Google, there is an alarmingly dangerous trend to try and keep it all secret from the press and the public.
Orr, a former state Supreme Court justice, gives the state a "D," writing that North Carolinians "need to get serious about prying open" the "closed door policy of government" in order to regain its reputation for good government.

(I used to be a lifelong Republican, but I was born again as a Democrat at the ripe old age of 27.)
Re: D for disclosure
July 25, 2007 - 1:07pm — kimkimYou know what's funny about this? Bob Orr is complaining about backroom deals and government's lack of openness and he can't (read: won't) tell the public who is paying him to run for Governor. He is doing contract work but he will not reveal his clients.
I give Orr a grade "F" for not revealing who is funding his run for Governor. BTW - I am a lifelong Republican and this is a big issue with him.
