Clip job

During a speech in Raleigh on Saturday, Sen. Elizabeth Dole went after John Edwards for getting a $400 haircut.

But it appears that he's not the only one to favor a fancy 'do.

Some of Dome's Democratic readers have e-mailed us stories from other papers that show Dole has also paid for some pricey salon time:

* A Hotline article from 1999 noted that she was a client of ILO Day Spa, a "chic Georgetown salon that caters to Washington's elite."

* A Roll Call article from 2000 reported that she was "among the loyal clientele" of the Four Seasons salon and spa in Washington.

* A Dallas Morning News article from 2001 noted that she stopped by the hair salon at The Mansion on Turtle Creek for "a quick coif."

Re: Clip job

There's no reason to believe Dole paid for the haircuts with campaign money.

Re: Clip job

And another.

Looks like you're well on the way to setting a record that will stand for eons! A red letter May Day!

Re: Clip job

Did Eliz Dole try to pay for her various beauty treatments thru her campaign funds?

By seven the busiest thread in UTD history .... pretty much sums up the superficial reality of Politics 2007.

Re: Clip job

He is not supposed to get his haircut? Or he is not supposed to be working so hard that he cant waste an hour getting a haircut (travel included)?

Re: Clip job

Re: Clip job

Ewwww. This is one of a very few stories on the new Dome blog to get 5 comments . . . and it's about Liddy Dole's investments in her face and John Edwards' hair.

Creepy.

I think you meant to comment here instead.

Re: Clip job

The stories are too old to provide active links, but here are the headlines and key paragraphs:

"Dole: Double Dipping," The Hotline, April 9, 1999.

Dole was a client of ILO Day Spa, a chic Georgetown salon that caters to Washington's elite, including Monica Lewinsky and Tipper Gore.

"Four Seasons," Roll Call, May 8, 2000.

What do Rep. Mary Bono (R-Calif.), Elizabeth Dole and Sporty Spice all have in common?

They are among the loyal clientele of the Four Seasons' first-rate salon and spa. While Bono has gotten waxed there, Dole prefers facials.

"Veterans get dose of Dole," Dallas Morning News, Nov. 30, 2001.

Meanwhile, while pursuing her Senate dreams, Elizabeth Dole stopped by the hair salon at The Mansion on Turtle Creek for a quick coif before a $1,000-a-plate fund-raiser at the Crescent Club for her North Carolina Senate campaign

Re: Clip job

Do you have the actual links to those articles?

Knock the smokers out of the park! As an asthma patient, the blue collar worker's restaurants need to be told to stomp out the butts.High end restaurants and country clubs in the State have already done so.
Vote for the State wide ban.

Re: Clip job

First, I stand in awe she presented herself in NC!
Second, forget the clip job cost, how much did her nose job cost? Her lip job and eye lift? Looks like she is almost a Joan Rivers look like.
