Chapel Hill man against Dole?

A Democratic fundraiser may run against U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole.

According to an article in the Carrboro Citizen, Jim Neal is expected to announce a run for Senate at the Vance-Aycock Dinner this weekend in Asheville.

A native of Greensboro, Neal now lives in Chapel Hill. He is a former investment banker and now works as a financial advisor.

Neal raised money for the Kerry-Edwards campaign in 2004.

State Sen. Kay Hagan and state Rep. Grier Martin are also considering running for the Democratic senatorial nomination.

Re: Chapel Hill man against Dole?

Sen. Dole (R) voted against dwell time for Fort Bragg soldiers, she voted against insurance for NC children, and she has voted for shipping virtually all North Carolina jobs overseas. She is not liked by even many Republicans. I’m glad we finally have someone to support. Jim Neal, if he runs a campaign from the heart, has an excellent shot at beating Dole. Dole is not only wrong on the issues North Carolina cares about, she’s also not a likeable person: a multimillionaire who ships our kids to war while denying poor children health insurance. Mr. Neal - thank you for stepping up.
