Bipartisan polling firm started

Two Raleigh firms are teaming up to start a monthly poll.

Campaign Connections, a Democratic consulting firm run by Brad Crone, and Public Solutions, a Republican firm run by Chris Sinclair, have started the North Carolina Poll.

The monthly poll will be available to subscribers, who will also be able to submit questions for the survey. It will be a "live operator" poll, with no automated computers.

In the first poll, a survey of 810 likely primary voters, Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue got 35 percent among Democratic voters for governor, beating Richard Moore, who got 29 percent.

Undecided voters, who made up about 30 percent, were mainly white urban women age 25-50 with children and high income and education levels as well as African-American voters.

Among Republicans running for governor, gas tax activist Bill Graham was first with 22 percent, followed closely by state Sen. Fred Smith at 21 percent, and former Supreme Court Justice Bob Orr at 16 percent.

Undecided voters, who made up about 37 percent, were mainly white urban men and women who consider themselves moderate to conservative with high income and education levels.

The margin of error was 4.5 percentage points.

They'll do fine.

Campaigns and the corporate media don't care about finding truth in political polling, they're looking for advantage. These guys will drum up lots of business and plenty of media coverage.

If they were serious about honest research, however, they would have defined their business as "non-partisan," not "bi-partisan."

Re: Bipartisan polling firm started

I know why there are 31% undecided it is not they are undecided it is that they didn't get to vote in the poll for their candidate. I have decided that I will take the 31% undecided thereby putting myslef right at the top.

Sounds like a great idea to me.

Re: Bipartisan polling firm started

I love both of these guys, but please pardon me if I call it the bi-partisan developers poll. Chris is firmly in thier pocket, (see triangle community coalition) and my boy Brad just made a killin' off running a bunch of commercials for the realtors to kill the transfer tax.

That said, both are solid professionals, (more than myself) and I wish them the best of luck. Just take any growth questions with a grain of salt. :-)

Re: Bipartisan polling firm started

question 11 states:
"11. What would you consider the most important issue that the Legislature should address in the 2008 elections?"

do they mean the 2008 session?

Re: Bipartisan polling firm started

Bipartisan maybe, biased maybe. Both firm are consultants to the NC Realtors.

There is a math error in the Bob Crumley results.

11 seems to be a long list. There is no indication these were rotated to eliminate bias from the last two loaded statements.

12a-g appear loaded in favor of their clients, NCAR, including the "my family has hit the limit" phrase from the earlier realtors' poll.

In particular 12a and 12c have three statements for only one response.
