Arson caused fire at Basnight restaurant

State officials are saying that arson was to blame for the fire that destroyed the restaurant owned by the family of Senate Democratic leader Marc Basnight.

The Outer Banks Sentinel is reporting that officials have told Basnight that he is not under suspicion. Officials are still trying to determine who set the fire at Basnight's Lone Cedar Cafe on the Nags Head causeway.

"He was shocked to learn that this was not an accident, but he is confident that investigators will find out who did it," Amy Fulk, a spokeswoman for Basnight, told the Sentinel.
